This place is awesome when all the fresh summer produce is in season, and I love going in the fall when they have pumpkins out! Some of the stands take cash only, so be sure to hit up the ATM before you come. Creekmore is my favorite, they are so friendly and always compliment me when I come in!

There is also an organic grocery (very good but very expensive), a butcher shop (the best around), Uncle Chuck selling fresh seafood out of his truck, a storefront for a local dairy and a few gift shops and two restaurants. Neat place!

A decent selection of local produce, meats, cheeses and milk as well as some other staples (soups, canned goods, as well as natural dog food). Always very friendly. In the summers they have a stand downtown next to MacArthur mall as well!

They host lots of local events too, check them out.

Great indie grocery store & organic produce right in Ghent. They have bulk grains/nuts as well as a huge cooler with local organic produce. Lots of things for the vegetarian/conscious eater as well as a whole aisle of health/beauty products. Friendly staff. There are locations in Va. Beach, Hampton, Norfolk and Portsmouth.

They have an online ordering system, will deliver your groceries if your order is more than $100, and you can order cases of more expensive things and split them with other "members". Great place!

Man, I wish this was around when I was an undergrad at ODU! It's right across from school as part of the new University Village they've built behind the convocation center. This place is a full grocery store complete with produce, free range meats, prepared meals and a deli/cafe! I am in love!

I've had their veggie hummus wrap, tabbouleh and wheatberry salad and everything has been delicious. The staff is friendly. Tons of hard to find vegan & vegetarian products, and even wine.

Plus they take your Monarch Plus card if your parents have loaded you up with money.

Ocean View can be awesome or terrible, depending where you go. If you want a clean beach with white sand that's dog-friendly and never crowded, park on the street near the intersection of Capeview and Ocean View Ave. and head down the public beach access (walk east down the shore). I love taking my dog here for walks and catching some sun here when it's hot.

If you want a smelly beach with sketchy people and trash all around, go to the west end where the "boardwalk" is. Don't be surprised to find a nasty used condom laying around or something.

I love OV, it's definitely got its' own vibe. Stick to the east beach and you'll be fine.

If you want to go hang out at a bar with wannabe thugs and rednecks, have a good time! If you want food late at night, you might be better off going to taco bell. The food was ok but the service sucked so much (we weren't drinking) that I'd never go back to this place. I hated the vibe!

Maybe I'd be giving this a higher rating if I weren't vegetarian but I dunno. My veggie pasta was cold and the "seasonal veggies" listed on the menu were a joke, considering we went in September and one of the "seasonal veggies" was asparagus which reminded me of bamboo stalks they were so hard. The bread was good although I'd have liked some olive oil instead of packages of butter.

My boyfriend's dad had steamed oysters and shrimp which looked really good and he said were very fresh. My boyfriend had the steak & shrimp - he had to drown the steak in A1 to make it edible, he hated it.

My boyfriend and I stopped here on the way to Nags Head for some lunch. Cute little retro diner with 1950s formica countertops, Elvis memorabilia, old fashioned milkshakes, etc.

I was pleasantly surprised they had a gardenburger on the menu although the salads looked REALLY good, not what I'd expect from a place like that! My boyfriend had a huge club sandwich and a chocolate shake. The fries were decent. Pretty cheap, too!

I hate the VB Oceanfront and it hates us locals just as much. If you're a tourist - go for it, you'll love it. If you're local, expect a parking ticket and some sort of hassle.

The night that my boyfriend and I got misdemeanor offenses for "Pedestrian in Roadway" - aka crossing the street along with the throng of people clogging its' godforsaken 22nd street - is the last time we went down there. If you want waves, go down to Nags Head, NC and avoid the tourists or just come to Ocean View in front of Capeview and enjoy the bay.

Love Mount Trashmore. If you're a runner you can do so much here between the hills and trails. Great place for families, pets, everyone! They have a skate park now too.
